NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TOWN OF CHESTER
Introductory Local Law #12 of 2025

A Local Law to Rescind Local Law 12 of 2025, a Local Law to Override the Tax Levy Limit Established in General Municipal Law § 3-C

Please take notice that the Town Board of the Town of Chester will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 6:45PM in the Town Hall Meeting Room, 1786 Kings Highway, Chester, NY. Said public hearing is to hear comments on the above captioned proposed local law.

Section 1. Legislative Intent.

It is the intent of this local law to rescind Local Law 12 of 2025, which overrode the limit on the amount of real property taxes that may be levied by the Town of Chester pursuant to General Municipal Law § 3-c, and allowed the Town of Chester Town Board to adopt a budget for the fiscal year 2026 that requires a real property tax levy in excess of the “tax levy limit” as defined by General Municipal Law §3-c, as such override is unnecessary because the Town has adopted a budget which does not exceed the Tax Cap.

Section 2. Rescind Tax Levy Limit Override – Budget Authorization.

The Town Board of the Town of Chester hereby rescinds Local Law 12 of 2025.

A copy of the proposed local law is on file in the Town Clerk’s Office and is available for inspection during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 am to 5 pm).

Any person interested in the proposed local law may appear in person or by agent. All written communications should be addressed to the Town Clerk at the above address.
