We’re hosting a Mini Repair Café, Sat, November 2 at the Chester Senior Center. Repair Café is a community fix-it clinic, where local residents bring household items to be repaired free of charge, by neighbors for neighbors. There are over 2,500 Repair Cafés worldwide, but this is Chester NY’s first ever Repair Café event.
For this inaugural event, we need volunteers with these repair/ fix-it skills:
• Sewing by Hand and/or Machine
• Electrical/Lamp Repair
• Knife/ Scissors/Blade Sharpening
• Bicycle Repair
• Glueing Wood, Pottery, etc
• Jewelry Repair … or Other Repair Skill
Volunteers need to bring their own sewing, electrical, sharpening or other tools in their area of expertise.
Are you interested in being a Repair Café Coach on Sat, Nov 2, 2024? Or helping in other ways? Call (845) 610-3130 or email ChesterAdvisory@gmail.com before Sept 24, 2024.

We throw away vast amounts of stuff, even things with almost nothing wrong. Sometimes all that is needed is a simple repair.
Knowing how to make repairs is a skill our society is quickly losing. This is a threat to a sustainable future and to the circular economy, in which raw materials can be reused again and again.
That’s why Repair Café is such a great concept. People with repair skills volunteer their time to fix items, and pass these invaluable, practical skills onward. The repaired items can be used for longer and don’t have to be thrown away. This reduces the volume of raw materials and energy needed to make new products. It cuts CO2 emissions, for example, because manufacturing new products and recycling old ones causes CO2 to be released.
Together, let’s recycle, reuse & repair!
