Garbage & Recycling Program
There will be no delay in trash or recycling pick up during the holiday week of Christmas and the New Year Please remember to keep all pails out of the roadway to prevent snow removal from being impeded.
The Town of Chester has contracted with Interstate Waste Services, for the collection of household garbage, recycling, and bulk materials, as mandated and regulated by the County of Orange.

“Recycling Basics” video to show customers what belongs in their recycling bin and what does not.
Your scheduled pick-up for waste collection, recycling and bulk items are on the same day each week. Place your trash/recyclables/bulk out the night before. Garbage must be in the containers provided by IWS. Please see the attached flyer for proper toter placement.

The following are the holidays observed by Interstate Waste:
New Years Day
If a holiday falls on a Monday, Thursday or Friday, garbage pickup will be delayed by one day.
Bulk pick-up begins April 1st through November. Please contact IWS at 845-572-3300 to schedule your collection
NO CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION (C&D) DEBRIS AND NO YARD WASTE.

Tires (off rims) will be collected at the Town Highway Garage, 77 Laroe Road, Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the second and third week of May, each year.
The following are some of the items considered hazardous and not picked-up with regular household refuse: computers, laptop computers, keyboards, mouse, speakers, scanners, gaming controls, monitors, printers, television sets. IWS also provides Chester residents E-Recycling services. You may bring your computer monitors, t.v.’s, electronics, etc. to 89 Black Meadow Road, Chester, NY. The facility is open Monday-Friday from 8am to 4pm. ID to determine Chester residency is required. Please call 845-572-3300 for directions.
