Town of Chester Dedicated Ambulance Service Contract
I’m proud to announce the signing of this contract with Empress EMS, that will provide a dedicated ambulance service to the Town of Chester! This 24/7 ALS (Advanced Life Support) service will be effective at midnight, February 1st, 2025. Residents of Chester can know that there is an ambulance dedicated to their town and will answer the call when it’s necessary. Although our ambulance will be a part of the greater mutual aid system, having a dedicated unit in Chester should bring the average response time to below 10 minutes, as opposed to the 17 and a half minutes we have now. These minutes can be the difference between life and death.
The Town Board met at a special meeting on January 31 st, 2025, and voted unanimously for the contract. Three Village Board members were present at this meeting, and all had expressed support for the contract. 1 want to thank both boards, our Town Attorney, Town Comptroller, Empress EMS, and many more, who came together to make this possible. I want to also thank Assemblyman Brian Maher for his advice throughout the process. His experience came in handy when getting the EMS Tax District set up.
We will be exploring ways to save money with our relationship with Empress in the near future. Please be on the lookout for news on that. But for now, we are happy with our new working relationship with Empress EMS and look forward to their continued care of our residents.
